Privacy notice.
This notice covers Horizont Education Ltd. and all three products — Agora, Synapse, and Mentor. It explains what we collect, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under GDPR.

What we collect
We collect the data you give us, plus a small amount of usage data needed to operate the platform.
- Identity — name, email, profile photo, optional handle and bio. Provided by you at sign-up via Clerk.
- Enrollment + learning data — cohorts joined, progress, projects submitted, reviews left. Created as you use the platform.
- Billing — name, billing address, payment method. Held by Stripe; we only see a token reference.
- Operational — IP address, browser, pages visited, timestamps. Used for security and capacity planning, not advertising.
Who processes your data
We use specialist sub-processors for the parts of the stack we deliberately don't build ourselves. Each is GDPR-compliant under their own published terms.
- Clerk (identity, session management) — United States
- Supabase (database, EU region) — Ireland
- Vercel (hosting, edge network) — global
- Stripe (billing, subscriptions) — Ireland
- Mux (course video) — United States
- Resend (transactional email) — United States
We do not sell your data, do not run third-party advertising trackers, and do not use your learning data to train any model outside of your own consented Mentor sessions.
How long we keep it
- Account data — for as long as you have an account. On deletion, retained 30 days in case of accidental deletion, then purged.
- Billing records — 7 years, per tax-record requirements (this is law, not preference).
- Backups — encrypted snapshots, rolling 30 days.
- Logs — 30 days for operational logs, longer for security events.
Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you (data portability).
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Object to specific kinds of processing.
- Lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
Most of this you can do directly from /settings/account. For anything else, email privacy@horizont.so— we'll respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We use the minimum set of cookies required to keep you signed in (via Clerk) and to operate the platform. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics in the future, this section will be updated and a clear opt-out will land alongside.
